A Recap of the Last Year
Let’s do a recap on following post from one year ago and how DeFi changed since then:
Since then, the narrative played out. DeFi grew exponentially and it’s been the strongest sector in crypto ever since. Let’s take a look at how things changed.
At the time of the previous post, DeFi had peaked at $1 billion TVL. Today it has over $43 billion. A 43x increase in one single year.
A few tokens were mentioned too. For reference I will use Coinmarketcap’s Historical Snapshot on 01 March 2020

At the time these were mostly it. There wasn’t any $UNI, $SUSHI, $1INCH, $YFI and a bunch of other tokens that have performed multiples since their inception. There wasn’t DeFi on Binance Chain and Solana didn’t even exist. According to Coingecko, DeFi now sits at a whooping $85 billion marketcap expanding across multiple chains. Chains that are even starting to integrate with each other.
What’s next for DeFi?
I’ve written what begun as a post but ended up being condensed in 16 pages so I guess it can now be called a report on where I see DeFi going the next few years. It includes:
- A sector that is mostly considered as a failed experiment but is yet to have it’s real chance
- The next big trending sector in DeFi
- Where DAOs are going and what to look for in them
- How to play DeFi during the next Winter
- A few goodies because I guess that’s what most want. A list of a few solid tokens
- Multiple tldr; along the way for the lazy ones
- and more
Keep in mind the report is based on fundamentals and where I see DeFi going. Then I apply that to the market to try and make the most out of it. It’s not a list of shitcoins to degen on, price targets or “wen top”.

To keep the process fair and instead of placing a ridiculous ask price where idgaf if it’s filled cause you’re the ones missing out, I’ll do as some homies have asked. The process will be as follows:
- 1 copy will be sold as an auction.
- Whatever price is hit, it will set the price of the remaining copies.
- Limit of 200 ETH for all copies.
- This means the higher you bid the more people you can price out of this precious alfafa. For example, if the first copy is sold for 50 ETH, only 3 more will be sold. Let the game theories begin and the homies to pool ETH together to price out the competition.
- The number of copies will be rounded down: for example if someone bids 32 ETH, I can’t make 6,25 copies, meaning only 6 would be sold to keep it limited.
